PROVEN LEADERSHIP

Dear Oceanside Voter,

Eight years ago, you voted YES for Oceanside’s future, and you elected me to the Oceanside City Council.

I pledged to be your voice and to work diligently and passionately for a better quality of life for all Oceanside residents.

Public safety was your highest concern.

Through neighborhood policing, increased staffing, regionalization of fire dispatch services, the opening of two fire stations, the creation of a citizen’s anti-gang initiative and other action,

…our goal of a 5 minute response time has become a reality, and we are now enjoying the lowest crime rate in 30 years!

As your council member, I have vigorously addressed issues that concerned you.

I brought forward a proposal for a second senior center that would meet the critical needs of our residents in Oceana, Costa Serena, Peacock Hills, mobile home parks and others.

... El Corazon Senior Center is now slated to open spring of 2009!

I brought forward a preferential parking program, after visiting with residents on Foster Street who couldn’t park in front of their own homes.

I brought the community together for a compromise on the beach timeshare and resort on height and bulk. We were successful! It has spurred on economic growth and investment in our downtown area for years to come.

... The Wyndham on Pacific Street was completed this year, and the luxury beach resort that we've waited for over 25 years has gotten its final approvals!

We have built Cesar Chavez Park, Mance Buchanan Park, Luiseno Park, dog park, skate parks, lights and improvements at our existing parks, chosen an airport operator, and we're now ready to go out on the environmental impact report for our largest park – the 450 acre park of El Corazon.

There are so many other stories about working together,  making Oceanside greater.

But there is still so much more work to be done.

Last month, I retired from my full-time job at the public defender’s office, after serving 20 years. I now have even more time to serve you.

As your council member, I will continue addressing our traffic issues, ensure that our communities are safe and have access to good, quality schools, parks, libraries, the arts, youth and senior programs, striking a balance between protecting and preserving our neighborhoods and priceless environment and strengthening our economic base, becoming a sustainable community.

I will continue to work on economic development and more jobs for our residents, such as the 90 acre Pavilion up-scale shopping experience and Costco projects.

I will continue to pursue implementation of the visions of El Corazon and Oceanside Boulevard.

I will continue to serve you diligently, passionately, and vigorously, be it at city hall or in your neighborhood.

I ask for your vote, to re-elect me as your council member.

Together we will make Oceanside the best!

Vote YES for Oceanside’s future!

Thank you.

Esther
